What the role is

Since May of 2020, our team has built a world-class education program for a group of middle school kids across the USA. Kids and their parents love what we're doing, we have consistently received exceptionally high NPS scores, and we've proven that Prisma learners demonstrate strong academic growth. Now that it's clear that we're building something that enables learners to thrive, it's time to expand and refine our curriculum library of workshops, projects, and missions. This is where you come in. We're looking for creative, experienced, driven curriculum designers with a math background who is comfortable creating content for kids in grades 6-12.

Curriculum designers will initially be brought on as contractors working a set number of hours per week on specific math projects. This is a great opportunity for teachers & freelance designers looking for part-time work, and could potentially turn into full-time work for the right candidate as we grow.

What you will do

• Work with our Head of Curriculum & math team to brainstorm, plan, and design content for Prisma live and asynchronous learning activities for kids in grades 6-12
• Design independent performance tasks and projects that give kids clear instructions, challenge them to think critically, and provide ample opportunities for choice & creativity (we don't design multiple-choice questions or worksheets)
• Help us source, curate & adapt the best online math learning resources, games, and apps available and incorporate them into our curriculum
• Design assessment & feedback materials focused on the mathematical proficiency & holistic development of each child (we don't give traditional grades or scores)
• Incorporate feedback from the curriculum team & coaching staff on your designs
• Think outside the box & contribute to the curriculum team's vision for a learning experience that offers more engagement & choice than any other on Earth

Who the ideal candidate is

You are a/an:

• Experienced curriculum designer with a portfolio of creative, engaging, and challenging math related lessons and/or experiences you have created for kids in grades 6-12.
• Exceptional writer and communicator who knows how to explain concepts and procedures clearly in writing & through engaging visuals for kids at all levels. Since our kids are virtual, they rely on written & visual explanations for tasks much more than in regular school.
• Organized & efficient project manager who has strong execution skills & can meet deadlines while communicating progress ****with ****a remote team
